As a certified wedding and event planner and a gal with a serious love of all-things weddings (and a former bride herself), Shafonne understands the unique challenges plus-size brides face.
Shopping for a wedding dress is one of the most exciting — but also toughest — parts of wedding planning. And it can be an even more daunting task for a plus-size bride. To ensure your search is fun and not stressful, make sure you do these three simple things first.
You may know exactly what you want your dream dress to look like, but do you know where to find it? That’s why it’s important to do your research. Look for shops that specifically cater to plus-size brides to ensure they have sample dresses in your size. And if they don’t carry bridal gowns for curvy brides, find out what sizes they do offer.
2. Call Ahead
It’s a great idea to call any shop that you are considering ahead of time. This way you can confirm which designers and sizes they carry. (There website may be out of date!) After all, wouldn’t you rather waste a few minutes calling ahead instead of driving a few hours only to find out they don’t have what you want?
3. Make an Appointment
Making an appointment at a shop not only ensures samples are pulled in your size and style, but it’s also the most time efficient. This way you can spend your time asking questions, trying on different dresses and working with the bridal consultant instead of waiting for them to pull samples. This guarantees that you have adequate help and attention.
