We won’t fault you for straying from your pre-wedding beauty regimen over the holidays. (After all, you have to live a little, right?) To get back on track, we recommend this tried-and-true trick for making it seem like you really did resist the champagne and cookies: At-home peels. They’re not so crazy-strong that they’ll leave you with red, itchy skin, but they’re still effective enough to procure that coveted bridal glow. Here, the ones we’re loving right now.
1. Malin & Goetz Resurfacing Glycolic Pads
These gentle pads keep things simple (the only ingredients are water, glycolic acid, and ammonium hydroxide), but they still pack a punch — exfoliating, refining pores, and evening out skin tone. $48, available at Malin & Goetz
2. Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion & Peel System
With this two-step system, you massage the exfoliating mask into your skin for about a minute, then put the lactic acid serum on top. (Like glycolic acid, lactic acid gets rid of the top layer of skin but it’s a bit gentler — great for extra sensitive skin.) Rub the mixture into your face for 60 seconds and rinse with water. We saw results immediately. $24.64, available at Ulta
3. Perricone Blue Plasma
No matter how many other peels we try, we always go back to this one. The star ingredient is salmon roe enzyme, which targets and removes dead skin. It’s also super hydrating and gives you a glow like no other — the perfect pick-me-up for harsh winter weather.
$95, available at Perricone MD
4. M-61 Power Glow Peel
Dealing with breakouts? Try this powerful combination of glycolic acid and acne-fighting salicylic acid. Lest you think these two strong ingredients will leave you with red skin, know that it has calming lavender and chamomile, along with bilberry, an antioxidant to promote a bright complexion. $28, available at Blue Mercury
5. Boots No 7 Advanced Renewal Anti-Ageing Glycolic Peel Kit
This kit isn’t only effective, inexpensive, and hypoallergenic, but it’s also really fun to put on. It comes with a little brush and dish that you use to apply a few pumps of the peel. Leave it on for five minutes, calm your skin with one of the soothing neutralizing pads, and rinse with water. You can use it up to three times per week, but all it takes is one application to see even-toned skin. $19.99, available at drugstore.com
